diy clutch

a girl can never have too many clutches…one in every size and color! and now you can make your own in a few simple steps.

materials

  • 14″ x 28″ piece of material (leather, faux leather, cotton, canvas, etc)
  • 12″ zipper
  • pins
  • scissors

instructions
step 1-pin one edge of zipper, face side down, to the edge of material, right side up.

step 2-sew along the pinned line, back-stitching at the beginning and the end to secure the stitches. (don’t forget to remove the pins as your needle approaches them.)

step 3-fold fabric in half lengthwise with right sides facing each other. pin free edge of zipper to edge of fabric.

step 4-sew along the pinned line, back-stitching at the beginning and end.

step 5-mark lines lengthwise for side seams. sew along the marked lines, back-stitching at the edges. (open the zipper half way when doing this so you don’t hit zipper pull when sewing.)

step 6-trim away excess fabric along the edges.

step 7-open up the zipper and turn bag right-side-out. fold over. iron down edges if necessary.

step 8-fill with your id, credit card, and favorite lip gloss…and hit the town for an evening of drinks!
