bird feeder

i love to watch birds and thought this diy project would bring more of them to my porch. initially, this project was for my entertainment but i soon realized my precious fur baby got way more enjoyment out of watching the birds than i did.

bird feeder

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tbsp corn syrup
  • 4 cups birdseed
  • cookie cutter (any shape)
  • nonstick cooking spray
  • parchment paper
  • chopstick
  • yarn or string

mix flour, water, gelatin and corn syrup together in a large bowl. add birdseed and mix well.
spray the inside of a cookie cutter with nonstick cooking spray and place on parchment paper.

spoon the birdseed mixture into the cookie cutter and press it firmly down with your fingers. (coat the tips of your fingers with nonstick cooking spray to keep the birdseed from sticking to them.)

insert and remove a chopstick about a 1/4 inch from edge to create a hole.

after a few minutes, carefully remove the cookie cutter and repeat.

let dry overnight.
once dry, string yarn through the hole and tie off.
place in gift bags for the perfect gift for family and friends…

or hang from a branch and let the birds enjoy!

p.s. i just had to share a few pics of sophia enjoying the birds.
