lamp revamp

my sister gave me an old outdated lamp about a year ago to do a makeover on. i put it in a closet and forgot about it until a few weeks ago. so a year later i’m finally getting around to doing it. now the question is do i give it back to her or keep it for my self?

  • fabric
  • scissors
  • fabric glue
  • clothes pins
  • spray paint
  • painters tape

using painters tape, tape off the on/off switch and the light bulb socket.

spray paint the base of the lamp with several light coats. let dry.

iron your fabric to get out all the wrinkles.

cut a semi-circle large enough to wrap around your lampshade. (if your lamp shade isn’t tapered as mine is then you will cut a rectangle.)

now cut a semi-circle out of the top of your fabric. (if you cut a rectangle then you will skip this step.)

using fabric glue, glue one end of the fabric onto the lampshade and secure with clothes pins.

starting with the bottom edge of the lampshade, fold the fabric underneath itself so it’s even with the edge of the lamp, glue, and secure with a clothespin. continue to do this all the way around the lamp. repeat this process on the top of the lampshade too.

when finished with the bottom and top of the lampshade, glue the end of the fabric vertically to the lampshade. let dry.

finally place on your nightstand or in your favorite reading nook and enjoy!
