the fourth hot dog for national hot dog month is the pretzel dog. it is served with a mustard sauce that has a nice little kick to it.
pretzel dog with mustard dipping sauce
- nonstick spray
- 1 can/tube pizza dough
- all-beef hot dogs
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 4 cups hot water
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- sea salt
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
- 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
- 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- salt and pepper
preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
divide the dough into equal pieces and roll each into a long rope about 8 inches long.
wrap each hot dog with 1 rope. starting at the bottom and twisting it around the hot dog until you reach the top.
dissolve the baking soda in the hot water.
lay each dog on the prepared baking sheet.
brush with the baking soda mixture and then with the melted butter.
sprinkle with sea salt.
place into the oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
for the sauce:
in a small bowl, add all ingredients and stir well to combine.
season with salt and pepper.
serve together and enjoy!
